Confetti

Stoneware, glazed stoneware, and found broom

Dimensions variable

The colorful ceramic confetti are scattered on the ground, their party magic exhausted. They are both mournful and celebratory, sharp and potentially dangerous. The broom, ready to sweep away the remnants of merriment, emphasizes the fleeting quality of such instances, suggesting that the very second of revelry is also the second of its departure. Confetti only exist in the ephemeral present, with no past or future. The moment they are launched is the moment they become trash. By enlarging and hand-recreating ceramic confetti, a material that lasts forever yet is so fragile, the fleeting moment of confetti is frozen in time. The random colors and glazes represent the unique and individual nature of each celebration, while simultaneously serving to unite them as a collective expression of joy. By delving into the transient nature of jubilation and the intricate emotions it arouses, these confetti become representation of memories.
