Death of Cinderella

Steel, Laser cut wood, Paint, Lights

On the gravestone, The “year born” refers to when the original Cinderella fairy tale was  written. The “year died” equates to when the popular movie was released. I think the movie killed the former Cinderella that lived in children’s imagination. Now when they think about the character, she becomes generalized with so many other skinny Disney princesses. At night, the cutout figure blends into the darkness, while the gravestone is still visible as I think the written version of the character should spread forever, not the movie typecast.
